If you are looking for a new sound, a raw, soulful, hip-hop distinct sound, a sound different from the solo beat machine, then you must listen to Ab and Daru's " A Work in Progress."   This new Midwest sound is a combination of live instrumentation and the refreshingly vibrant, eclectic soulful vocals of Ab placed over the music of beat maker/drummer, Daru.  But, who are Ab and Daru?

Ab has been captivating audiences and music pioneers across the globe.  Opening for such acts as Betty Wright, Dwele, Patti Labelle, Dougie Fresh, The Whispers, and Enchantment, AB is fresh and versatile. Whether he is rocking on the East Coast with Neo-Soul musical icons Eric Roberson at SOBs, Kindred at the 9:30 Club, appearing at Urban Organics Anniversary with Julie Dexter and Jaguar Wright, opening for the hip-hop duo Dead Prez at Mirrors in Washington DC, Big Daddy Kane at the New Hazlett Theater in Pittsburgh, Algebra at the House of Blues, or performing at The Black Family Reunion Series in Cleveland, you have no choice but to be amazed at the plethora of talent AB possesses. AB has also toured Europe as the vocalist/keyboardist/music director for the legendary hip-hop group Slum Village and shortly after AB & The Souljourners became the official band for Slum Village. Prior to playing the Essence Music Festival in New Orleans Ab brought Daru on as Slum Village’s drummer. Soon there after, AB brought Daru on the road as Black Milk’s Drummer as well. Innovative and invigorating, this singer, songwriter, composer and vocal coach—is in demand! He has been commissioned to create songs and composition for such artist as Slum Village, Black Milk, El Zhi, Dr. Dre's protégé "Bishop Lamont," Zo!, 14KT, Buff 1, and many others.Daru has been working the underground soul/hip-hop scene for some time.

Taking a page from the legendary James Brown, Daru is known as the hardest working beat maker/drummer in the industry.  Daru has produced and released several projects including his latest “Spirit drums” series. As an accomplished drummer, Daru has performed with a variety of bands, including Reflection Eternal, Slum Village, Idle Warship, Tableek, Ab and The Souljourners, Black Milk, and many more. Daru has been granted the opportunity to produce records through his own company Rusic Records for Vocalist Rena, Kissy Asplund and several other international artists.

The musical experimentation of Ab and Daru's diverse sound began via the Internet.  Daru began as a substitute drummer in Ab's band. Ab sent Daru accapellas via e-mail.  Daru would produce music to compliment the acapellas and would e-mail them back to AB.  Once Ab received them he would lay vocals on top of the music. This collaboration via technology has led the duo into new territory.  The new territory is their CD, "A Work In Progress." Their positive vibe and worldly sound is one that will touch the masses.
